Q. When is the Race?
A. The Race will be held on October 8, 2016 in Terre Haute. Registration and the Team Village will open at 7 a.m., with opening ceremonies beginning at 8:30. The Race 5K timed run will start at 9:05, the 5K walk will start at 9:20 and the 1-mile walk will begin at 9:35 am.
Q. Where is the Race?
A. The Race will be held at the Meadows Shopping Center (25th & Ohio Blvd.) in Terre Haute. Check back for a map of the Race course.
Q. How much is the registration fee?
A. Adult registration is $20; Youth registration (school age through college) is $10; Active military registration is $10; Sleep in for the Cure registration is $25 to account for shipping costs. Participants are welcome to add a timing chip for an additional $5. New this year! Kids can participate in the Kids Dash for a registration fee of $5.
Q. Is my registration fee tax-deductible?
A. No, your registration fee helps defray the costs of producing the Race and is not considered tax-deductible. However, any amount that you choose to donate above the entry fee is tax-deductible.
Q. What is included in the registration fee?
A. You will get a Race number and a Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure® t-shirt! Please register by noon on Friday, Sept. 23 to guarantee you receive a 2016 Race shirt.
Q. How can I register?
A. You can register online by clicking here. You can also register offline by downloading a registration form and mailing the completed form and your registration fee to us at 3500 DePauw Blvd, Ste 2070 | Indianapolis, IN 46268.
We also have open hours at the Wabash Valley office in the weeks leading up to Race for the Cure. Teams and individuals are welcome to register on-site and pick up their Race materials all at once. The Wabash Valley office hours at The Meadows are:
Q. How will I receive my Race packet including t-shirt?
A. The packet pickup date is Monday, October 3 from 12-7 pm at the Wabash Valley Komen office in the Meadows Shopping Center. A representative from your team is able to pick up packets for all team members. Packets may also be picked up on Race day at the Meadows Shopping Center.
Q. How long is the Race?
A. The Race is a 5K route, which is approximately 3.1 miles. There is also a shorter route option (approximately 1 mile). You may choose to walk or run either route. If you are unable to walk or run, you can still register and join us on Race day. We are always looking for people to cheer on our runners and walkers.
Q. How can I become a volunteer?
A. The success of the Komen Wabash Valley Race depends heavily on the support we receive from our volunteers in the months leading up to the Race and on Race Day. There are many ways you can get involved. For more information, click here.
Q. Are pet and strollers allowed at the event?
A. Pets are prohibited from the event, but strollers are permitted.
Q. What if it rains?
A. Komen holds the right to cancel or change the date or location of the Race in its sole discretion, including in the circumstance of extreme weather. It is likely, however, that the event will happen rain or shine. Please dress accordingly.
Q. Does the Komen Race for the Cure® require fundraising?
A. You are not required to fundraise, but we do encourage all participants to fundraise above the entry fee. Just Imagine the IMPACT - If every Race participant raises just $100 in addition to their registration fee, we will be able to continue delivering our mission, supporting local screening, treatment and educational programs in our community!
Q. Does the money raised stay right here in our community?
A. Yes! 75 percent of the net income from the Race stays right here in our central Indiana community to fund vital breast cancer health education and breast cancer screening and treatment programs. The remaining 25 percent supports Komen’s national research and training grants program.

For donations on behalf of an individual participant or a team, please include that information with your check.
Q. Is there a deadline for fundraising?
A. All donations on your behalf that are received by November 8, 2016 will be credited to your fundraising total.

Q. How do I form a team?

Q. What are the benefits of a team?
A. Forming or joining a team multiplies the fun you will have on Race day. You can create a team to celebrate a survivor or honor someone you have lost. You can also create a corporate team and get your entire company involved.
Q. Do teams have to fundraise?
A. Teams are not required to fundraising but we strongly encourage fundraising. Fundraising as a team can be fun. Click here to get a list of fundraising events your team can do. We are giving out fun prizes on Race Day for the top fundraising teams!
Q. One of my team members registered as an individual when they meant to join my team. How do they correct this?
A. Please contact us at 317-638-2873 or email@example.com to get this corrected. If you send an email, please include the individual's name and the team name they'd like to be added to.
Q. What is a Team Page?
A. Your Team page is a Web page that people can visit to find a team member or give a donation that supports the fundraising efforts of the entire team. Although the default Team page contains sample text and photos, your Team Captain can customize this page to make it a creative expression of the Team commitment to Komen and our fight against breast cancer.
Q. How can teams pick up their Race packets?
A. All team packets must be picked up by the team captain or another team representative. The team packet pick-up date is October 3 from 12 - 7 pm at the Wabash Valley Komen office in the Meadows Shopping Center. You can also pick up packets on the morning of Race Day, at the Meadows.
Q. Will there be a place for my team to meet on Race day?
A. We strongly suggest communicating with your team members prior to Race day to arrange a meeting time and place so you can enjoy the morning's activities together. You can also choose to participate in Team Village! Learn more here.
