Event Update: April 29, 2017
For the safety of our participants and volunteers, we regretfully cancel Race for the Cure due to the weather. However, your continued support is vital. Breast cancer comes rain or shine and often at the most inopportune times. We hope you will continue to help us fund research to find the cures and help those affected by breast cancer in our community. To show your support visit komencentralindiana.org/race or text IMPACT to 24700.
We will communicate more updates to our participants and supporters as soon as possible! Please stay tuned for details about how to get your Race materials if you’re already registered and for any other questions about the event. Thank you for understanding!
Here’s how you can still support the Central Indiana Race for the Cure:
1) Register today at komencentralindiana.org/race as a virtual participant for $35 – your Race materials will be mailed to you!
2) Visit komencentralindiana.org/race to make a donation to help us save lives and find the cures.
3) Text IMPACT to 24700 to donate from your cell phone anytime.
Oh, and save the date for April 28, 2018!

Q. How much is the registration fee?
A. Registration varies depending on your participation type and the date you register.

Adult registration prices are $35 now - April 28 and will increase to $40 on Race Day.
If you don't want to participate on Race Day, but you still want a Race for the Cure shirt and packet, you can choose a Virtual registration option for $35, regardless of timing. $35 includes the price of having your packet mailed to you.
Q. Is my registration fee tax-deductible?
A. No, your registration fee helps defray the costs of producing the Race and is not considered tax-deductible. However, any amount that you choose to donate above the entry fee is tax-deductible.
Q. What is included in the registration fee?
A. You will get a Race number, a Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure® t-shirt, and a great feeling!

Indianapolis, IN 46268
Q. How can I purchase an honor or memorial flag for the 2017 Race?
A. Click here to purchase online for a minimum of a $10 donation. Flags will also be available for purchase at packet pick-up during the week of Race. Supplies are limited; while supplies last.
Q. How will I receive my Race packet including t-shirt?
A. Race packets can be picked up in person or mailed to you in advance of Race Day. You can select shipping for an additional $5 through April 16, 2017. We will also have packet pick-up times during the week leading up to Race. See your options here.
Q. How long is the Race?
A. The Race is a 5K route, which is approximately 3.1 miles (with competitive and non-competitive start times). There is also a shorter route option (approximately 1 mile). You may choose to walk or run either route. If you are unable to walk or run, you can still register and join us on Race day. We are always looking for people to cheer on our runners and walkers.
Q. How can I become a volunteer?
A. The success of the Susan G. Komen Central Indiana Indianapolis Race depends heavily on the support we receive from our volunteers in the months leading up to the Race and on Race Day. There are many ways you can get involved. For more information, click here.
Q. Are pet and strollers allowed at the event?
A. Pets are prohibited from the event, but strollers are permitted.
Q. I purchased a timing chip. What do I need to know for the competitive 5K run?
A. Runners - be sure to give yourselves enough time to get to the runners' corral at the start line on New York Street before 9 am. The competitive run will begin promptly at 9 am. Sometimes walkers are already lined up, so make sure to go to the very front of the start line to be included in the timed start. Timing mats will only be used at the start line for a few minutes.
If you start the competitive 5K after this time, you will receive a 'gun time' rather than a 'chip time.' The competitive 5K will stop timing at 9:45 am. Volunteers will collect your timing chip at the finish line and your times will be posted at tuxbro.com by late afternoon on Saturday, April 29.
Q. What safety precautions do I need to know about?
- No backpacks will be allowed in the event area (Military Park on April 29).
- All bags are subject to search during the event.
- To ensure the safety of all participants, please report any suspicious activity during the event.
- If you leave valuables in your car, please keep them out of sight or locked in your trunk for safety.
Q. What if it rains?
A. Komen holds the right to cancel or change the date or location of the Race in its sole discretion, including in the circumstance of extreme weather. It is likely, however, that the event will happen rain or shine. Please dress accordingly.
Q. Does the Komen Race for the Cure® require fundraising?
A. You are not required to fundraise, but we do encourage all participants to fundraise above the entry fee. Just imagine the IMPACT - If every Race participant raises just $100 in addition to their registration fee, we would bring in an additional $740,000 to support local screening, treatment and educational programs in our community!
Q. Does the money raised stay right here in our community?
A. Yes! Up to 75 percent of the net income from the Race stays right here in our community to fund vital breast cancer health education and breast cancer screening and treatment programs. The remaining 25 percent supports Komen’s national research and training grants program
